Average duration of care proceedings in Jan-March 2014 was 33 weeks
The Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service has been making great strides in reducing the duration of its legal proceedings revolving around child care since it implemented the Children and Families Act 2014 back in late April of this year.
Currently, its 2013 and 2014 accounts demonstrate that the target of at most a twenty-six week duration for legal proceeding is being met, and many applications are actually being completed in far less time.
When comparing the total number of open cases in March of 2014 with March from the previous year, you’ll see that, while there was 10,439 open cases in 2013, there was a substantial drop by 2,489 cases!
