Conversion of civil partnerships into marriage will be allowed as of 10th December 2014. However according to the draft Regulations 2014 there will not be a formal ceremony but rather a simple signing of a declaration witnessed by a superintendent registrar. This process may only take place during Monday to Friday normal business hours.

According to the couple, Equalities minister Nick Boles "listened well" to the couple's views. Mr. Boles assured the couple they will receive a marriage certificate rather than a certificate of conversion.

The Government is currently looking at the draft regulations again in light of the various views they have received.
